AmCham Regional Cooperation Important for Attracting New Investors

AmCham Montenegro participated in a working meeting between AmChams from the region held on December 2-3 in Belgrade, Serbia. The goal of this meeting was to identify the most important topics and activities that should be part of the conference scheduled for March 2015. The NEW SEE initiative is focused on creating a new investment platform in Southeast Europe. The initiative will include ten AmCham’s from the region: Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Slovenia and Serbia.

During this two-day preparatory meeting, the representing AmCham offices had the opportunity to participate in the creation of the agenda for the conference. By sharing the mutual interest to promote the region as an attractive market for investors, ten American Chambers of Commerce (AmCham) joined their efforts in achieving this goal.

As the first common action, AmCham’s decided to create a website containing all the information about AmCham’s in the region, their activities and plans. The NEW SEE website will be of significant use to potential investors, governments, as well as AmCham’s. During the stay, AmCham representatives had the chance to meet the U.S. Ambassador to Serbia, H.E. Michael D. Kirby, as well as the Minister of Economy in the Government of Serbia, Mr. Željko Sertić and the Minister of Education and Science, Mr. Srđan Verbić.

AmCham representatives used the chance to exchange knowledge and experiences, hence identify the most important strengths and challenges in doing business in the region. They stressed the importance of working together in tying the region as a hub of potential and knowledge for developing new business ideas.
