Transparent Pharmaceutical Policy Key for Attracting More Foreign Investments

AmCham Montenegro organized a Business Breakfast with the Minister of Health, Mr. Miodrag Radunović, as the honorary guest speaker, at the RAMADA Hotel, Podgorica. The aim of this meeting was to discuss the main issues AmCham Health Care Committee members and other AmCham member companies face in doing business in Montenegro. It was stated that the recently adopted Rulebook for Placing and Removing Medications from the State Reimbursement List is a positive step forward. However, there is still space for intensifying further cooperation between the Ministry of Health and AmCham Health Care Committee in improving the business climate in this industry sector.

The Business Breakfast was a great opportunity to start a constructive discussion about the priority improvements of the pharmaceutical policy. “The AmCham Health Care Committee was founded with the aim of identifying the key challenges innovative pharmaceutical companies face in doing business in Montenegro. A more transparent work of regulatory bodies, with well-defined deadlines for fulfilling the assumed tasks would significantly improve the business environment in this sector. This would make Montenegro more attractive for significant and long-term investments and projects of innovative pharmaceutical companies. We are ready to provide support to the Ministry of Health in the implementation of these activities, bearing in mind that effective mutual cooperation leads to a faster achievement of common goals. Those goals include improving the health care system and providing better access to modern therapies for patients in Montenegro.” said Ms. Radmila Bajić-Sekulić, Chair of the AmCham Health Care Committee.

The Minister has introduced the audience with the activities realized by the Ministry of Health in respect of the pharmaceutical policy agenda. According to Mr. Radunović, there is a lot of space for cooperation between the Ministry and the pharmaceutical industry in solving various issues in this sector. Therefore, he assessed that by joining the AmCham Health Care Committee, pharmaceutical companies have expressed their willingness to actively participate in the process of improving the pharmaceutical policy in Montenegro.

AmCham Health Care Committee consists of leading innovative pharmaceutical companies in Montenegro, which are dedicated to improving the business environment in this sector. The Committee has recently produced a position document, which summarizes issues and recommendations for improving the regulatory framework in the mentioned area.
