Representatives of AmCham Montenegro met today with the Confederation of Trade Unions of Montenegro. The meeting was the result of AmCham’s initiative to gather a broad range of stakeholders involved in the reform of the Labor Code of Montenegro.

Both parties agreed that the social dialogue can be improved and that trade unions and business associations should better cooperate on the matter. AmCham and the trade union representatives agreed that more needs to be done to improve the skills of young people in Montenegro. In tackling this issue, the two organizations will cooperate to develop programs that will focus on skills development of Montenegrin youth.

AmCham’s Labor Relations position document was the key topic discussed during the meeting. Mr. Marko Nikčević, the Secretary General of the Confederation of Trade Unions stated that the position document provides a solid basis for further dialogue between the two organizations.
